Bespoke Maths Tutoring
Face to face or online
Dawn Walton
Hi there! I am a qualified Maths Teacher, with 11 years of experience in both English and Welsh exam boards. Although I specialise in KS3 and GCSE level tuition, I also work with a wonderful primary teacher for primary level children.
I live on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, and for local students, I can tutor 1-2-1 in the student's home. I have just completed the Sylvaen Welsh course so I am able to work with Welsh questions and terminology. Hopefully by next summer I will be mostly fluent!
If face to face tutoring is not an option, I am equally happy to tutor online using Zoom and Zoom whiteboard, which means I can also teach you further afield.
Maths Tutoring
Boosting confidence and results
GCSE
Year 10-11 and 12-13 resits:
GCSE exam preparation, all levels of ability. Get the best grade you can after the disruption of COVID-19 and feel confident walking into your Maths exam.
I have experience with WJEC, Edexcel, IGCSE, AQA, and OCR exam boards.
Many of my students are learning in Welsh. I am constantly working to improve my Welsh, but also use textbooks in both languages to make sure practice and understanding in Welsh is embedded. I am about to start the Canolradd course.
Often I am able to fit Y12-13 during the day so please do enquire even if I am full. The colleges give very little support and tutoring for resits can make a huge difference to the outcome.
Years 7-9
Years 7-9
To give struggling students a confidence boost, improving their knowledge and ability at any level and helping them to approach their GCSE years with a positive attitude.
Care is taken to make sure Welsh vocabulary is used when tutoring Welsh medium students.
Primary
Year 6
To help children prepare for SATs tests and generally give confidence before the transition to Secondary School.
I work with a Primary teacher as an extra tutor - he is a very calm and experienced teacher.

Testimonials
Dawn has been tutoring my son for well over a year now . He Has become so much more confident with his maths working with her, and independently, I can really see the difference. Dawn is so easy to work with and very caring, helpful and makes maths easy to understand. She is very reliable and we have been able to work online with her with no problem at all during lockdown. I would definitely recommend Dawn as a maths tutor.
Karen Major
Dawn is a very professional maths teacher, my daughter has special educational needs and Dawn attends to her individual learning needs with care and understanding. Dawn makes learning fun and adapts her learning techniques to make it easy for my daughter to follow. Dawn is friendly easy to talk to and has gone above and beyond to help my daughter learn her times tables, this is done through and app that makes maths fun. My daughter has loved using the app and Dawn can see how she is doing. I would highly recommend Dawn to anyone who needs extra tuition with maths 100%.
Corrin Smith
Lovely lady, friendly and approachable. My daughter doesn't enjoy maths but Dawn makes even the more complicated areas accessable to her. My daughters confidence has improved and maths is becoming a little less intimating for her.
Dawn responds speedily to any questions or queries I have and is always punctual.

Terms and Conditions
Fees
Lessons will be charged at the rate of £40.00 per hour, payable monthly in advance, by bank transfer or monthly standing order, on or before the 1st day of each calendar month. Payment should be made to my business bank account, with the Student’s name as the reference. If payment is by standing order then the amount should be based on 4 weeks per month and adjustments will be made on a termly basis (or at other times by mutual agreement) to balance any over- or underpayment.
Timings, cancellations and illness
Please note that the student is booked in for a particular time slot; the Tutor undertakes to always be available for the full duration of the agreed lesson time-slot, but please allow for any delays with traffic if the tutor is travelling to your home for face to face tuition. The Tutor will always contact you if she is going to arrive more than 15 minutes late. The full duration of the lesson will still be given, starting at the arrival time.
Lessons are of 55 minutes duration, allowing 5 minutes for a quick catch up and feedback to parents at the end. Please be aware the time starts when the Tutor arrives at the student’s house or at the beginning of the online tutoring slot.
If there are any lessons you are unable to attend then the Tutor must be notified before the 15th of the preceding month. A maximum of 1 further cancellation per term is permissible; if this is exceeded then the Tutor reserves the right to terminate tuition so that the slot can be offered to someone else. Any lessons cancelled by the Student, or their Parent/Guardian, with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full. This notice period allows the slot to be offered to someone on the waiting list. If the student has an infectious illness (such that they would be expected to stay away from their place of education/work), or is unable to travel to the lesson venue, then no face-to-face lesson will take place, but an online lesson will be offered as a substitute if possible. The Tutor is under no obligation to offer an alternative lesson slot for any reason.
If the Tutor is obliged to cancel a lesson then either the lesson will be rearranged for a mutually convenient time or that lesson will not be charged.
Termination of this Agreement
Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date, subject to 14 days’ notice on either side. Any overpayment will be refunded. Both parties reserve the right to terminate lessons should they no longer be considered beneficial to the Student.
Limitation of Liability
While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure that the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and the Tutor cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Tutor accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s services or any errors or omissions in the contents of the Tutor’s learning materials.
