Terms and Conditions

Fees

Lessons will be charged at the rate of £40.00 per hour, payable monthly in advance, by bank transfer or monthly standing order, on or before the 1st day of each calendar month. Payment should be made to my business bank account number, with the Student’s name as the reference.  If payment is by standing order then the amount should be based on 4 weeks per month and adjustments will be made on a termly basis (or at other times by mutual agreement) to balance any over- or underpayment.

Timings, cancellations and illness

Please note that the student is booked in for a particular time slot; the Tutor undertakes to always be available for the full duration of the agreed lesson time-slot, but please allow for any delays with traffic if the tutor is travelling to your home for face to face tuition. The Tutor will always contact you if she is going to arrive more than 15 minutes late. The full duration of the lesson will still be given, starting at the arrival time.

Lessons are of 55 minutes duration, allowing 5 minutes for a quick catch up and feedback to parents at the end. Please be aware the time starts when the Tutor arrives at the student’s house or at the beginning of the online tutoring slot.

If there are any lessons you are unable to attend then the Tutor must be notified before the 15th of the preceding month. A maximum of 1 further cancellations per term are permissible; if this is exceeded then the Tutor reserves the right to terminate tuition so that the slot can be offered to someone else. Any lessons cancelled by the Student, or their Parent/Guardian, with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full. This notice period allows the slot to be offered to someone on the waiting list.  If the student has an infectious illness (such that they would be expected to stay away from their place of education/work), or is unable to travel to the lesson venue, then no face-to-face lesson will take place, but an online lesson will be offered as a substitute if possible. The Tutor is under no obligation to offer an alternative lesson slot for any reason.

If the Tutor is obliged to cancel a lesson then either the lesson will be rearranged for a mutually convenient time or that lesson will not be charged.

Termination of this Agreement

Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date, subject to 14 days’ notice on either side. Any overpayment will be refunded. Both parties reserve the right to terminate lessons should they no longer be considered beneficial to the Student.

Limitation of Liability

While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure that the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and the Tutor cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Tutor accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s services or any errors or omissions in the contents of the Tutor’s learning materials.
